She was reading a book, indeed we know what follows but she wasn't the supporting character expected. Instead she replaced a non existent character described vaguely by the author whom was forgotten and died on her own. Accepting her loneliness and fate of being poisoned by her half-sister... Such a fate was indeed unfair to the poor lady
